I may be going slightly more mad than usual but I can't help thinking that grapefruit had a sharper taste back then. The idea of grilled grapefruit was to get a sort of sweet and sour flavour, I think. I think the grapefruits of 2016 might be just too sweet to get that kind of flavour. Or it might be my memory playing tricks. Must make this again.Snowyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04944724956205419885noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578151607368747182.post-89623074650189265342016-11-20T23:05:25.018+00:002016-11-20T23:05:25.018+00:00Grilled grapefruit! I really can't remember why. I must go and buy a grapefruit. I don't think I ever made a crème caramel back then but I certainly remember sticking grapefruit under a grill on more than one occasion. Tell that to the youngsters today and they won't believe you.Phil in the Kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15904292856978631382noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2578151607368747182.post-77075191619415903862016-11-20T07:36:04.437+00:002016-11-20T07:36:04.437+00:00Goulash was definitely a dinner party favourite ba...Goulash was definitely a dinner party favourite back then. In fact I remember cooking and serving it at my very first dinner party to good friends (and a previous husband), along with grilled grapefruit to start and crème caramel for dessert. Oh, the sophistication!
We have actually cooked it again recently and wondered why we had forgotten about it for thirty years!
Your recipe looks good, I'll try it.Jeanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09726164724131916224noreply@blogger.com
